Whanganui i-SITE Visitor Information Centre

iSite logo

The Whanganui i-SITE Visitor Information Centre plays a big role in helping visitors and locals alike enjoy Whanganui. Staff can give advice and make bookings for tours, activities, accommodation and transport.

Housed in a remodelled historic warehouse on the intersection of Taupo Quay and Drews Avenue, the Whanganui i-SITE Visitor Information Centre opens directly onto the Whanganui River walkway. The centre is open seven days a week – summer and winter hours apply, see below – and is closed only on Christmas Day. Contact the team on 0800 92 64 26 or 06 349 0508.

Part of a New Zealand-wide network of information centres, the Whanganui i-SITE Visitor Information Centre is an agent for travel services such as Intercity buses, the Interislander and Bluebridge ferries, Northern Explorer, TranzCoastal and TranzAlpine trains and Air Chathams flight services.

Advice and booking services for local tours and activities are also offered at Whanganui i-SITE, as well as a booking service for local and national accommodation via online agent Bookit. Event ticketing services using Eventfinda and iTICKET are also available, along with information and booking services for the Department of Conservation’s Great Walks and backcountry huts.

With free Wi-Fi and parking, and central city attractions like Sarjeant on the Quay Gallery, Whanganui Regional Museum, Durie Hill Elevator and Tower, and Waimarie and Wairua riverboats nearby, you’re always welcome at the Whanganui i-SITE Visitor Information Centre.
