Cooks Gardens

Home to Peter Snell’s world record-breaking mile in 1962, Cooks Gardens is renowned for its sporting and athletics events. This venue has a unique elevated trackside event centre.

Facilities

Cooks Gardens has a multi-purpose stadium with an all-weather synthetic 400-metre athletic track, a wooden cycling velodrome and grandstands.

Adjacent to this facility is a unique trackside elevated venue – known as the Cooks Gardens Events Centre – which is suited to conferences, meetings, product launches and weddings.

The Cooks Gardens Event Centre has two main rooms and 11 corporate boxes and is equipped with a fully operational kitchen and bar for your food and beverage provider.

There is limited free on-site parking at the Cooks Gardens Events Centre.

Whanganui Venues & Events manage the Cooks Gardens venue, along with all track and field and velodrome bookings.

The Whanganui Venues & Events office at the Whanganui War Memorial Centre at Pukenamu Queen’s Park is open to the public between 10.00am and 4.00pm, Monday to Friday, or by appointment.
