Restricted fire season – Whanganui coast and urban area

The Manawatū-Whanganui Coastal Zone has moved to a restricted fire season until further notice.
A restricted fire season means anyone who wants to light an outdoor fire must apply for a fire permit authorised by Fire and Emergency.

Apply for rates remission

For the 2024/25 financial year (starting in July 2024) the council is continuing its rates remission (reduction) that was put in place for the 2023/24 year to assist households affected by a significant increase in rates as a result of the 2022 property revaluations.

Lundon Park

Lundon Park on Thatcher Street in Castlecliff has grassed fields for football and rugby. The playground equipment can accommodate large groups of children.

The park was named after David Lundon, who was a collector of customs in Whanganui in 1880.
