Local Elections

Whanganui's local elections are held every three years and give you the chance to vote for the Mayor and local council.

The next local election will be held on 11 October 2025 and will also include a referendum on the future of Māori Wards in our district. 

If you are an enrolled voter, you'll get a voting information pack in the mail. Check or update your postal address to make sure you receive your voting papers.
