The Manawatū-Whanganui Coastal Zone has moved to a restricted fire season from 22 January, until further notice due to warm temperatures, drying winds and a lack of rainfall. A restricted fire season means anyone planning on lighting an open-air fire will need a permit. Please be aware of the fire risk conditions – if in doubt, don't light!
Check if you need a permit
Use water sensibly – that’s our message to the community as this spell of hot and dry weather continues in the district. While there are no water restrictions in place, sensible water use will help our Westmere reservoirs (supplied by deep underground bores) meet the expected extra demand. You may notice a temporary reduction in pressure at times.
