Work-related raised noise levels on Eastown Rd from 27 June-1 July

On display until 01 July 2024, 08:00 AM

Work to replace a section of wastewater main underneath the KiwiRail rail crossing in Eastown Road is being done by Whanganui District Council’s Whanganui Alliance partner Downer from 11.59pm on Thursday, 27 June until 8.00am on Monday, 1 July 2024.

To ensure this work does not conflict with KiwiRail’s train schedule, installation of the replacement wastewater main will occur on a 24-hour basis during the work period.

Increased noise levels and ground vibration can be expected at all times – both day and night – during the work period due to the operation of heavy machinery, generators and steel cutting activity.

Council noise control officers are aware of the likelihood of excessive noise levels. The council apologises for any excessive noise or vibration that local residents may experience during the work period – as far as possible, Downer will keep these disruptions to a minimum.

Please note that Eastown Road residents have received a letter informing them of this work.
