Consultation has opened for Whanganui District Council’s Long Term Plan 2018 – 2028.
All members of the community are invited to read the Long Term Plan Consultation Document and make a submission on areas they’re interested in.
Mayor Hamish McDouall says hearing from the public is critical to the success of the Council’s plan.
“Firstly we want the input of the community. We want to hear the wisdom and perspectives of the people this plan will affect.
“Secondly, we want people to be informed about the issues we’re considering and for them to feel as though they’re part of the future of Whanganui, not just bystanders in the process of growing this district.”
Mayor McDouall says Whanganui’s future is looking increasingly positive. “We have to be ready for growth,” he says, “And our Long Term Plan looks at how we will be prepared to accommodate new businesses and enough homes for our residents.
“If you have views on rates, Whanganui’s port, climate change or recycling or you want to make suggestions about Council amenities or services, it’s really important you get involved with this consultation.”
