Kowhai Park flying fox to reopen next month
Published on 15 July 2021
The much-loved flying fox at Kowhai Park is expected to be ready for action again in August.
Chief executive Kym Fell said the date of the opening would depend on the weather, as the earthworks around the structure needs dry weather to dry out.
Construction of the new structure is currently underway, with council contractors carrying out the work.
The previous flying fox was taken down in October 2020 because of safety concerns.
“The new structure will look much more impressive,” Kym Fell says.
“The launch ramp is higher and longer, but the ride will be similar to the previous flying fox. The new flying fox is designed to be safer.”
