In February 2019, Whanganui will host around 65 executives representing the latest intake of the 2019 Massey University Executive MBA programme.
The hands-on programme will give Whanganui businesses the opportunity to engage with the executives and work collaboratively on real business problems.
Through a partnership between Whanganui & Partners and Massey University, Massey’s Executive MBA students will spend three days in Whanganui attending their first course, on Contemporary Strategy. The course immerses the executives in the Whanganui business environment and marks the beginning of a two-year relationship between the executives and local businesses.
Hannah Kelly, Whanganui & Partners’ Strategic Lead for Education and Youth, says the programme is an opportunity for local businesses to benefit from the executives’ expertise and insight.
“This opportunity is outstanding for Whanganui and for the Whanganui businesses that will engage with the programme alongside the executives,” she says. “We are very excited to have the opportunity to host the Executive MBA here in 2019.”
The Massey EMBA is a real-world programme, focused on business problems rather than just academic learning. Massey University Director of Executive Qualifications and Executive Education and Enterprise, Dr Patricia Bossons, says making Whanganui the focus of the EMBA’s Integrating Project creates a unique opportunity for both the EMBA’s executives and Whanganui businesses.
“The executives on the programme will have challenging experiences that will let them put their learning into practice immediately,” she says. “We aim for Whanganui to benefit from access to high-level business practitioners, passionate about making a difference. This will be a true partnership between Massey and Whanganui, and we are looking forward to building lasting relationships within the community.”
Businesses interested in participating in the Massey EMBA programme should come along to the Innovation Quarter at 179 St Hill Street on Thursday, 29t November at 5.00pm to meet the Massey team and find out more about the programme.
Massey University Business School has been running its Masters of Business Administration degree course since 1942 – the longest-running MBA in New Zealand. It is the only MBA programme in the country which is designed for people from all over New Zealand, not just the major cities in which the universities are based. The Massey MBA is now also the only MBA in New Zealand which carries the official title ‘Executive MBA’.
