Whanganui Rural Community Board by-election July 2023

A by-election was required to fill an extraordinary vacancy for a Kai Iwi subdivision representative on the Whanganui Rural Community Board.

The final result for the by-election that closed at 12 noon on Friday, 7 July 2023:

Doughty, Brian - 326 votes (elected)
Handley, Quentin - 208 votes
Walker, Bob (Independent) - 74 votes
Informal - 0
Blank - 1

The voter return was 27.90 percent, being 609 votes.

Nominations closed at 12 noon on Thursday, 11 May 2023. The by-election was required following the resignation of board member Sandra Falkner.
